How fucking out of touch is this motherfucker. He used an Executive order to give raises to Congress and others.
Obama Orders Pay Raise for Biden, Members of Congress, Federal Workers
According to disclosure forms, Biden made a cool $225,521 last year. After the pay increase, he'll now make $231,900 per year.
Members of Congress, from the House and Senate, also will receive a little bump, as their annual salary will go from $174,000 to 174,900. Leadership in Congress, including the speaker of the House, will likewise get an increase.
Here's the list of new wages, as attached to President Obama's executive order:
"A new executive order has been issued providing for a new pay schedule beginning 'on the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning after March 27, 2013,'" reports FedSmith.com. "The pay raise will generally be about 1/2 of 1%."

I always thought that COngress had to vote themselves raises.
This seems to be a new strategy. Keeps their hands clean. WTF are they being rewarded for? If they worked for me, I would fire or cut their pay. What a great job, trillion dollar deficits forever. Great job assholes. |

for sure. It boggles the mind completely. Its like everything you learned about simple math when you were a young student doesnt apply in the real world. Ive never seen a more incompetent bunch of people ANYWHERE working, let alone in Washington. The fact that they wont even communicate with each other - the people should rise up and these assholes need to be fired. Immediately. They are ruining the country and it is almost to the point where the damage is irreparable. |

e. kaye - They did. And when Obama was elected he issued an executive order freezing the raises and general cost of living adjustments to thousands. And, to be fair, the GOP complained. Now he is doing what they wanted him to do, which is to let it pass, and they are complaining again. Just to be fair. That's the whole story. He is probably doing it ahead of the fiscal cliff issue to make amends. |

Not as out of touch as the Republicans, refusing to sign the millionaire club tax increases. 225k is peanuts. Think of the Wall Street multi-millionaires, the bailouts. Hell, I know many public servants in Canada who make more than 225k. The VP is just a step away from the President. |

It's not the size of the fish, it's whether it is red or blue.
Cut NPR and save MILLIONS!!! Cut Planned Parenthood and save MILLIONS!!! Tax increase that would raise revenue by billions? That's pocket change and wouldn't really make any real difference... I think they should be taking a pay cut and have much more limited investment rights, there's far too much money in politics as things are. It shouldn't be something people do to get rich. But if this pay increase had happened under a Republican administration, I think many who are attacking it would be defending it. And vice versa.

My wife and I both work at a VA hospital. I'll take my .5% pay raise. Between the both of us that's an extra grand a year before taxes. If you don't like it, to bad.
