Kanye really benefits from having enough money to get sample clearance on popular music. The east coast sound really suffered when the music industry took a dive in the early/mid aughts. no one could clear samples anymore. 

 

Personally i dont think Kanye is all that special at all. He beat jacks drums and melodies from so many other artists.

His tempo clones are a mess, with no consistent note rendering. That by itself undermines bass matrix value.
