He became the #1 contender when he beat Munoz.

If Weidman won't be fighting Anderson Weidman vs Belfort would make sense IMO. Bisping should fight another guy coming off a loss - not Weidman.

after he almost killed Munoz and the UFC offered him up to Anderson (Anderson turned that fight down).... So yea thats when he became the #1 guy
