My wife wants a beardie so bad. I keep trying to convince her that Uro's are cuter. She's not buying it so far. That was about the only thing they had at the show this weekend that caught my interest. That's a happy looking mali. |

A bonus to add to the wife is that Uro's don't eat bugs, you make little salads for them. |

Ya except she doesnt sweat the bugs. We feed about 30 mice and rats and 100 bugs of various sorts every week. Oh well, maybe I will get her a beardie first. I have sent her a couple of your pics to further try and convince her that uros are indeed cuter though. |

Very nice. Thanks. I will be getting one for me, even if I have to get her a beardie first. |

Yeah, they're very cool lizards. An interesting item to note is that they can live around 30 years. But yeah, the Ornate uros are very pretty. But I've seen some striking Mali's as well. However, I think all Uro's are pretty freaking cool lizards. J |

I tried to breed ornates for a while, but the eggs would never hatch out. Uros are great lizards, and I see you're giving them dandelions, nice. |

It's possible, Uro's are still pretty new to the trade in the western hemisphere. The care and details are still very new and undiscovered with these guys. They grow and mature much slower than other species like Beardies for example. I would say one would be lucky to see 15 + years of a well taken care of captive though, with 8-10 years being an average lifespan so far. The Uro caresheet on kingsnake.com has this listed for lifespan: Lifespan: For uromastyx that are wild caught, it is almost impossible to determine age. Currently it is beleived that these animals can live to be 30+ years old in captivity, growing continuously until death, though at a much slower rate after the first few years. |

I don't think it sounded rude, but i can't speak for JitsuGuy. 10-15 is great for some Iguana types, althought i've personally seen some green iguanas that people claim to be 20+ and they still appear healthy and active. Cyclura can and usually do live much longer though. Monty Krizan had a rhino iguana that saw well past 26 years last i heard, might still be around even at over 30 as far as i know. |

Nice! I'm looking into a beardie but is there any major differences with care and diet with bearded dragons vs Uros? |
