there's gonna be more "environmental damage" when the shuttle up there now breaks up and rockets toward earth at 10,000mph. |

Yeah, spending trillions and probes that don't work and shuttles that blow up is really going to help the environment. Maybe NASA should use thier white collar welfare money to buy more trashcans or something. |

"how is erosion our fault?" Depends on the area. Where there were once grasslands and trees, their root systems held the soil together. When they are cut down and burned out, it allows for the soil to be carried about by flood and rain water. |

Actually, that's what's been happenin' to the world's supply of fresh tuna fish since all the erosion has gotten out of hand. |

"Astronauts seemed cooler in the 60's and 70's because they weren't telling you that you had to do some work and maybe try and consume less shit in a given day. now that everyone is smarter, we're realizing these things. people don't like being told to consume less and to try and pollute as little as possible. it involves changes in lifestyle that are seen as "difficult" and lot of males feel those changes are emasculating. I'm not sure why." Not the resaon i was thinking at all. |

Gee, an astronaut goes into space and can see the obvious destruction of the environment. Conclusion: she is a crazy hippy. |

Astronauts were cooler because for the most part, they were test pilots or fighter pilots. They weren't nerds. |

Patk nailed it. Much respect to todays astronauts, but NASA needs to recapture the image of a few decades ago IMO. The soccer mom aint doing it for me. |
