I got a call last week from a casting director who's friends with a producer I know in LA. She was given my name because they needed a "cute couple", as in me and the wife. We showed up for the screen test a little baffled, as we're cute, but not regular TV cute. It turns out they were looking for a "ethnically vague" couple. Just so happens that the wife and I are famous for our ethnic vagueness. Maybe I'm Italian, Mexican, Greek, Brazilian, or Jewish, no one seems to know, and the wife could be from any Pacific island or mainland Asia. If we get the gig, I'm buying a new PowerBook (15", 1.6Ghz, 512MB, 80GB) so I can stop sharing my fight movie studio with the wife. This month, my wife is writing a novel, and I'm trying to get two DVDs out (shootfighting and grappling), so we've been fighting over the machine for weeks now. I'd gladly give up $2K to never have to beg for editing time again. |

I don't think we're getting it. He said they needed to pick within a week, and it's been well past that. I'm very disappointed because we could really use the new machine. I don't know how regular actors can handle the constant waiting and disappointment. I'm definitely not cut out for it. |
