my girlfriend has a pet turtle that has been dead for 5yrs it has just been sitting in her room i took it so that i could try to get the shell seperated from the body but it seems like the turtle has fossilized the head and appendages are rock hard so does anyone know how i would go about getting the shell off?

couldn't bury it she was way too attached it was a gift from her grandma who died

Why exactly are you trying to get the shell off? You can't anyway. The shell is part of the turtle's skeletal system. The spine and ribs are attached to the inside of the shell.
