I sort of like biology and this is supposed to a rapidly expanding field with lots of jobs being created. Unfortunately, I don't really have a clue as to what exactly it is. Can anyone give me a description of what it is and what I'll be doing if I go into such a field? |

a BA in Biology may just make you a lackey in a Lab somewhere IF you can beat out the other lackeys in the job interview. |

Ok, but you didn't really explain the job. I'm trying to understand what this field is even about. |

The job of biotech? There are many different types of jobs in the biotech field. Can you be more specific? My background: I have a degree in finance and was pre-med in college. I worked in healthcare investment banking, meaning I did deals with biotech, biopharma, and med device companies. I'm in medical school now, and am currently working at a life sciences venture capital firm. |

"Biotech relating to the medical or pharma field." You will most likely be working in a lab investigating whatever technology the company has developed (or has proprietary rights to). If you ever want to elevate above the job of an expendable lab tech, you will have to either get an M.D. or Ph.D. |

biotech folks often work in pharmaceutical or agricultural fields Big companies like Monsanto hire lots of people for biotech jobs of varying capacities Sales is possible with a bs degree, but you won't likely be doing lab work or research |
