Follow anything meaningful through and that's what you will come to. In which case it means absolutley everything. It is actually a qoute from St Francis. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail and I may be able to suggest some reading material on the subject: straightblastgym@hotmail.com |

Don't worry Myk, you aren't the only one. I actually have a filter in place which blocks all of this stuff from Matt. It prevents my head from hurting. |

It's literal, not a metaphor. Adam and Eve is a metaphor, that is literal. www.straightblastgym.com |

Yes. And I would offer the other side of what Matt wrote above ("Follow anything meaningful through and that's what you will come to. In which case it means absolutley everything): when we look for the thing outside ourselves that we imagine will fulfill us, what we are looking for is for that imaginary Thing to be gazing back at us. For ex: I am seen/judged/loved by something outside myself; "if I do this action the Other will see me as a good person" or "if I can attain that Lexus, the Other will see me as the kind of person who drives a Lexus," etc. Being seen by the Other is a way of guaranteeing our identity, which involves a kind of comforting paranoia. In the great moments when we can do as Matt wrote, however, that quote takes on a different significance. What is looked for is indeed what is looking, and in the absence of an imaginary Other what is looking is very clear. |

Break down the statement in syntax. What you are looking for, (Subject: you action: Looking) is what is looking (Action: Looking Implied Subject: you.) |
