UFC really needs to step up the card count.  I know they plan on it, but their roster keeps getting bigger and they need to keep these guys busy.  Plus I want to watch more fights.

Or just do 12-14 fights per card and put the prelims on the webs for free

Tomato CanĀ - Also, Jan Blachowicz deserves mention as he has an armbar victory over M'Pumbu who made the OP's top 10.

Blachowicz is one of the most promising euro prospects for sure.

Some others that came into my mind:
Robert Jocz just lost by decision to the Afghan Killa, but before that he had 11 wins in a row and beat guys like Michael Knaap and Dion Staring.

Yet another polish Mamed Khalidov (19-3)definitely deserves to be mentioned. Hasn't lost in years and beaten guys like Pokrajac (just fought Matyshenko in the UFC), Jason Guida, Daniel Acacio etc.

It will be very interesting to see how Khalidov fares against Santiago. He clearly has skills and has always been more of a MW despite fighting at LHW.

Thanks to everyone for the responses

Blachowicz is solid, but he has yet to fight in 2009. I'd want to at least see a tune-up before recommending him.

Jesse Forbes is good too, but I feel like he hasn't picked up that one win that will take him to the next level yet.

Mamed Khalidov is obviously one of the best available fighters at any weight, but with his commitment to compete at 185lbs in Sengoku, I decided to group him with middleweights. That is really his ideal fighting weight anyway.

I read the Sherdog piece on Chris Weidman... only 2-0, but one to keep an eye on.

Mike Van Arsdale, unfortunately, hasn't fought in MMA in like three years.

even with 12-14 fights per card they still would have a hard time getting everyone fights.
Also I wonder if Rodney Wallace would of been on this list if not recently signed by the Ufc?

Yeah, Wallace probably would have landed somewhere around the 6-8 range on my top 10. Like I said, I'm a fan, but his lack of height might end up being his downfall at 205

TTT

Bloodyelbow.com writer and Smoogy FC friend Leland Roling just posted his breakdown of desirable free agent talent in the LHW division. We shared some notes, so there is obviously some overlap, but check his piece out, as it covers a lot of ground.

P.S. A new Free Agent Notebook will be published in November
