Their was an interview with Frankie today on mmaweekly, and even he thought 50-45 was out of line. You don't see that all that often. I thought Frankie won, but it should have been 48-47, with BJ winning the first 2 rounds.
When I first watched the fight I thought Penn won. I rewatched it yesterday and now I think it could have gone either way. The 3rd round was the closest imo. I had Penn taking the first two rounds without question, the third could have gone either way, and Edgar edged out the 4th, and took the 5th as decisively as Penn took the 1st and 2nd. Very hard fight to score, but 50-45 is ridiculous.
The really sad thing, Dana's blood was probably boiling at that moment, and then when it got followed up by the ridiculous main event he forgot all about that score and moved his vitriol towards Anderson.
The fight could have been judged either way but I noticed Edgar's reaction right after they announced the first judge as 50-45. He shook his head like he was pissed. He probably thought that judge gave every round to BJ.
“I don’t know about every single round, I’ll be honest with you. They were close... but all rounds? I don’t know,” said Edgar about judge Douglas Crosby scoring him winning all five rounds.
Dana also didn't agree with 50-45
“I honestly didn’t know who was gonna win that fight, and I thought it could have went either way,” he commented. “I thought it was a close, close fight. When the one guy said it was a blowout like that, I don’t think either one of these guys blew it out that big.
