Hey man, I don't know how much you post these days, but I hear you're working on a book called 10 Jiu Jitsu Masters about life lessons you've gleaned from great BJJers.

If this info is accurate, when does it come out and who are the 10?!

Excerpt from an article FB did for Black Belt where he interviewed Rickson (who I can only assume is one of the ten) that piqued my interest in the project:

.. Gracie talked about the importance of regular jiu-jitsu training and being put in uncomfortable situations.

"Where there's discomfort, there's fear," he said. "In these very tough positions, you're in a little piece of hell. And through this daily suffering, you learn to survive in these situations. You have to find comfort in uncomfortable situations. You have to be able to live in your worst nightmare. Jiu-jitsu puts you completely in the moment where you must have complete focus on finding a solution to the problem. This trains the mind to build that focus, to increase your awareness, your capacity to solve problems. Sometimes, you don't have to win. You cannot win. But that has nothing to do with losing."

Hi Kneeblock!

Thanks for your interest in the Ten Jiujitsu Masters project. I'm now working on a women's self defense book that sidetracked Ten jiujtisu Masters for a bit, but that will be the next one. For the time being I will be writing shorter profiles of some of the masters (and others) in self defense insider, which anyone can subscribe to by emailing me at abood23@hotmail.com and putting "newsletter" in the topic heading.

As far as the ten masters that I personally studied under, they are:

Grandmaster Helio Gracie
Rickson Gracie
Relson Gracie
Ryron Gracie
Rener Gracie
Pedro Valente
Helio "Soneca" Moreira
Steven Alphabet
Bruno Carmeni
Fred Sato

I may combine Ryron and Rener as one, and put Professor Pedro Sauer in there, as he is the one I began with before I started my journey to seek out different masters (or I may save him for the next book).

let me know if I can answer any quetsions and thanks for the interest!

Hey FB, if you can, I'd love to read the entire BB article. I left my email on the other thread but it would be cool if it was on the UG.

no problem! I didn't see your email and I don't have an electronic version of it yet but if you leave your email here (or email me at abood23@hotmail.com and put "newsletter" in the subject heading) I'll be emailing (for free) an electronic version soon for everyone who wants one (it will be in my first newsletter).
