HexRei - There are also like 1,700 players in the NFL. The UFC has a few hundred on roster. All else being equal, of course you are going to see more arrests among NFL players, as there are way more people to be arrested.

Are there 1,700 players on the Bengals though? Because that is the point that person was making. I would probably agree with him too. I think the UFC roster is filling up with fighters who probably don't have the time, money, energy or fame to get in as much trouble as a lot of the NFL guys, especially off season. No facts from me, but just a hunch.

Where I'm from, hunches get punches. Slow your roll.

UH, no they (UFC) don't. The majority of UFC fighters who have been arrested don't even make the news.

Here in San Diego alone, several guys who have fought in the UFC have been arrested and I don't think any made the news or even the UG news. There has been more UFC fighters than players from the Chargers in the county jails here in SD....

Active UFC fighters?  Or some guy that did a one off three or four years ago that gets picked up?  Because if that's the case, believe that there are a lot more guys that played a handful of NFL games that get picked up.  In one year these were the members of just the Bengals that were arrested.

1.  A.J. Nicholson - linebacker was arrested on a domestic violence
2.  Odell Thurman - linebacker was arrested for drugs and suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy
3.  Chris Henry - receiver who has been arrested four times (drunk driving, speeding, concealed weapon, marijuna)
4.  Quincy Wilson - running back was charged with disorderly conduct for failing to disperse after a weekend wedding party
5.  Eric Steinbach - offensive lineman/guard was arrested on charges of boating under the influence on the Ohio River
6.  Matthias Askew - Defensive tackle was arrested for resisting arrest and police used a stun gun on him to take him into custody.
7.  Frostee Rucker - defensive end was arrested for spousal battery.
8.  Johnathan Joseph - cornerback charged for pot possession
9.  Deltha O'Neal - cornerback arrested on drunk driving charges
10.  Reggie McNeal - wide receiver was arrested outside a Houston nightclub at 2 a.m. after he struck an off-duty officer in the chest with his elbow after being told that the club had closed for the night.

So list me 10 UFC fighters that have been locked up in the last year.  Sure there have been a few.  Miller, Stephens, Creepy and Bones.  But it's not a daily thing like it is in the NFL offseason.  Like I said before, I'm sure this "majority" of UFC fighters that get arrested you are talking about are the guys that fought there once back in the day.

BAM!!! Take that shit haters!

Yes you should and no offense taken. I will even clarify my post, I have personally SEEN and TALKED to several UFC fighters who were in the SD jail system...

He should be offended because he didn't know you were a sherrif at the jail? If you wanted to "clarify" your post you could have simply revealed this the first time... or the second. Kind of a dickish post, IMO^^^.

so,

what happens if the facts are corroborated by eyewitness testimony, and the truth comes to light that Jeremy Stephens did brutally beat someone and put them in the ICU?

will he be cut from the UFC? I hope it isn't true, I like the way he fights. If it is, he should be jailed for many years and put out of the sport permanently.

Yes, if any of that is true, he should be cut from the promotion and barred from MMA, imo..

Also, I hope no one forgets the guy that tried to bail him out of jail for a few hours, have him fight/pay him, then send him right back to jail.. Sounds like the script for an awful straight to DVD movie.

"Reigning Felon", in theaters Summer 2013.

County jail.. and there was no bail.

Dana said "Release him to our custody with 2 cops, let him fight then send him back"

(I'm paraphrasing.. I'll find the exact quote and edit)

He also said (paraphrasing) he could've bailed out Manson with the numbers they were agreeing on and if Jeremy didn't show up to court then he was going to hire Dog the Bounty Hunter to find him.

yeah, I got my quote from the same interview apparently.

Just pointing out (imo) that it's a real scum bag thing to do. Let the justice system run its course.. just because you have truckloads of money, doesn't make you above the law.. Stevens should have to go back to Iowa and face the music. If he's innocent, great, set up the fight after.

I hope the gentlemen at the Hennepin county Sheriff's office (as well as whatever county in Iowa) laughed at Dana's greasy proposal.

Why? There's plenty of wiggle room here. The crime he was arrested for was from LAST YEAR (so this menace has been roaming free for like ten months... good lord he must have a trail of bodies behind him!). I'm betting they only picked him here because they knew exactly where he'd be at that moment, since it was well-publicized, and it saved the department man-hours as opposed to trying to track him down at some gym or whatever.

He was obviously not a danger and its silly that they treated him like a flight risk and were completely unwilling to negotiate reasonably- many guys in county have an opportunity for work release within 24 hours of their arrest. I have no dog in this fight but I agree with Dana here, someone here had a hard-on to keep him locked up and no one knows why yet.

Do you have any realization how fucked up your post is?

Your using Stephenson fleeing the state as prove that he wasn't a flight risk and no danger to someone?

"someone here had a hard-on to keep him locked up and no one knows why yet."

Actually everyone knows why at this point, he has a felony warrant for a violent crime.

Agreed with the first part.. they knew where he'd be and picked him up there.

No one gets to bail out until a bail hearing, which he won't get until he's in Iowa.. Hennepin County is just holding him until the county in Iowa can pick him up. There shouldn't be ANY negotiation, he should return to Iowa to face charges.

I can tell you for a fact that no one gets an opportunity for work release until after they've been formally charged.. There is no conspiracy about why he's still being held, this is MN, not Hollywood.
