For reals. Vince isn't exactly a small guy for their weight either. Amazing skill this guy has. Looking forward to his next outing.

I always wondered how many great Caucasian fighters were getting lost in Zuffa's "those crazy Russians" stance.
The irony in all of this of course is that the Dagestani, Ingush and Chechen people have a much bigger axe to grind with "Those crazy Russians" than Zuffa could ever imagine having.
It always seemed to me that it would be relatively easy to recruit Caucasian fighters to leave Russia to come live and fight in America if the right contacts were developed. The region has been one of the major hotbeds of mma talent since the early days.
Hopefully Khalidov, Nurmagomedov and Gashimov are just the beginning of a new era of Caucasian UFC fighters.

Not surprising at all...when it comes to natural talent, Caucasus is the no.1 region in the world for recruiting talent fighting, wrestling, judo, etc.
The best wrestlers in the world come from that region and by a wide margin.
MMA is still not popular in that region. But if a serious team like ATT opens a location there, the talent pool to recruit is limitless.
Btw, fighters like Khabilov are not really considered elite (or even very good) athletes there. Combat sambo is almost considered a hobby than a real sport.

As already been said in here, the people of the caucaus region are bad motherfuckers. Majority of the russian olympic wrestlers come from that area, like B.Saitiev and many more.
Most of them also live and work at a high altitude in the mountains, they come in looking like drained farmers but these dudes can scrap for days.

what do you if their families start being kidnapped to make them throw their next fight?
Look at what's been happening with tennis and hockey players. people from the russian area come with alot of risk.

Anyone know what Khabilov's ethnicity is exactly? Wiki says he was born in Dagestan, but there are a lot of Chechens living there too.
Awesome debut anyway.
