Martinez missed weight last fight then proceeded to get KTFO by Cruickshank. All that with about 5 months notice due the cancellation of UFC 151.

Slap Maxwell - LaVasseur's two losses were late notice fights. One of which he stepped up the day of weigh ins.
That's joe silva for you. Phone Post

I really think that Griggs, Urushitani, Levessuer, and Martinez should have been given one more fight.

Griggs just had a couple of bad breaks but the guy is a finisher and always brings it. 11 wins all by stoppage, thats not the kind of guy you just throw out without giving him another chance against some lesser competition.

It seems like the UFC is going to be creating a 115lbs division pretty soon and I think Urushitani would have been really dominant at that weight class had they kept him around.

Wish they would have kept Martinez for at least one more fight.

Sad to see Griggs go, but not surprising. I really wanted him to fight Beltran. He will be a fun addition to Bellator. I think he should go back up to HW though. More sluggers in that division.

LeVesseur should NOT be cut, stupid fucking move

His first UFC fight (and loss) was on short notice to McKenzie, then beat Prater

and his other loss he got called in to fight the DAY of the fucking weigh ins...

So much for rewarding guys who step up on short notice? wtf

He won the only fight he actually got to train for.

Unless you're given a six figure pay raise, don't take fights on short notice is the lesson to be learned here.

Not entirely accurate, Marcus was already on the card, and both he and Trujillo(sp?) had their opponents pull out. That's how they ended up getting matched up Phone Post

True. (Sort of)

LeVesseur was prepping for Olievera, Chiesa stepped in, pulled out a week before the fight, so the fight was completely scrapped, LeVesseur thought he wasn't fighting at all... They just offered to pay him if he made weight so he wasn't out the money... Then, weigh in day, now you're fighting again. Kind of a mind fuck.

training for Chiesa, and Trujillo are two completely different things IMO.

Gameplans, strategy, anything you've drilled or worked on is out the fucking window, basically all you've got is that you've made weight... Not saying the same burden was on Trujillo, because he took the fight on a days notice as well, but pretty shitty.

either way, shitty reason to cut the guy IMO...

One promotions garbage is another promotions treasure.

On paper it's hard to argue the decision but I think for some of them the paper stats are deceptive.

It would help if you all knew how to spell Urushitani.

Griggs and Urushitani getting canned both feel just wrong to me. Griggs was a fun fighter and was coming in on a winning streak before dropping to LHW. Urushitani was considered the #2 Flyweight in the world a year ago, and that's a really thin division and I'm surprised they've gone ahead and made it even thinner. Meanwhile the UFC still has 83 LWs and 76 WWs. They probably have another 15+ fighters coming over from Strikeforce (albeit half of them women), and they need to cut a net total of about 30 people just to get down to 360, which is where they can hold 40 events a year, 11 events a fight, 2.4 fights per fighter per year (3 fights per year as an average is a myth).

You forgot to take into account the 214 fighters that will get injured in training this year...
