I just watched the Badr Hari fight, and all I have to say is, Holy Shit.
He looked like he was 2 weight classes above Hari.
If Fedor continues to fight in Japan I would love to see him vs Alistair.

Overeem's upper body was enormous! I would love to see Overeem vs. Arlovski or Fedor. Crazy fight either way.

He is one of the only fighters w/a huge ass frame who actually decided to add muscle to it as he went along.

I haven't said much about this fight as to show respect for a fallen hero to many.

Alistair got a chance vs. a fighter who has been excessively active and was 50 lbs lighter than him, but also head and shoulders above him in striking ability, he seized the opportunity viciously and made Hari pay by brutal KO the result is not disputable, Badr got wrecked.

In a rematch Hari will win and it will be by crime scene.

Props to Overeem who is definitely an impressive specimen, but don't get it twisted that was a result of tough circumstances for Hari and Alistair being underestimated @ 260 lbs of fluidly moving pure muscle. Hari will win a rematch by not trading punch for punch the way he did, he let his ego get the best of him, in rematch he will kick and knee much more as well, his history in rematches is devastating I do not expect Alistair to take that fight.

Joe, thanks for spending a little NYE time with us inter-trolls. What's a multimillionaire like you do on New Year's? I imagine you got your pick of some crazy parties, or do you stay off the road in your celebratory condition?

P.S. Your banter before Nog/Mir about Buffer's mic rage cracked my shit up. It was sort of at half volume, but a bit of that stuff's good. I also liked when you mentioned Joe Silva's "This ain't Japan" note during the Soku fight. A lot of commentators wouldn't have mentioned that.

Why isn't the UFC moving on this guy?

A huge, athletic guy with awesome standup, incredible power, and pretty fucking good groundskills to go with it....

He made Buentello beg for mercy.

I've always been a fan of Overeem.

When PRIDE was bought I couldn't figure out how they didn't pick him up on the cheap. He had potential but was at a low point careerwise; they could have snatched him up. Now he's the champ in a medium size org (or did that one fold?) and picking up wins. He's probably back up into the 40K/40K or higher range.

Overeem's resurgence at HW is impressive; Affliction take notice; several top ten ranked fighters there for him to be matched with..

Agreed.

It isn't natural to put on 40+ pounds of muscle in a year or so. Overeem is juicing, plain and simple.

Well, considering that he hasn't beaten any top ten ranked fighters since his "impressive resurgence" there are lots of top 10 fighters out there for him.
