 Prater fails weigh-in test
By MFC Staff - Oct 01, 2009

LW fight dropped to 3 rounds

Challenger Carlo Prater has let a golden opportunity slip through his fingers.

The Brazilian missed the 155-pound target at the weigh-in for MFC 22: Payoff and will not be allowed to fight for the MFC world lightweight championship against reigning title-holder Antonio McKee.

The fight will go ahead as a three-round, non-title fight and as the co-main event to the middleweight showdown between Jason "The Athlete" MacDonald and Travis "The Serial Killer" Lutter.

"I'm extremely disappointed in Carlo. It's not acceptable to miss weight any time, but it's a gigantic mistake to miss it for a title fight," said MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich.

Lutter had no trouble with the scale as both he and MacDonald registered at 185 1/2 pounds. Their clash will headline the show which airs live throughout North America on HDNet Fights.

Other weigh-in results:

Welterweight
Luigi Fioravanti - 171
John Alessio - 169 1/2

Light Heavyweight
Mike Nickels - 206
David Heath - 205 1/2

Light Heavyweight
Marvin Eastman - 205
Ryan Jimmo - 204 1/2

Welterweight
Pete Spratt - 171
Nathan Gunn - 170

Light Heavyweight
Jared Kilkenny - 205
Dwayne Lewis - 204

Welterweight
Jason Heit - 170
Paapa Inkumsah - 169 1/2

Welterweight
Joe Christopher - 171
Andrew Buckland - 171

Jesse MacDougall - 168 1/2
Nick Hrynchyshyn - 170

Didn't McKee miss weight as well or is there a lb allowance for title fights there?

Where the fuck have you been for the last four months? There have been multiple threads and I'm sure there are other people/places where your concerns would be more suitably directed.

The fight shouldnt be at 155 anyway. Carlo is a big 170. He probably killed himself just trying to get close.

Not when it is the River Crei (or how ever you spell) over seeing the event. Plus I think that they only get one shot on the scale, no second.

I call BS. Both fighters missed weight. Looks like a little creative rule making after the fact.

Under the River Cree Athletic Commission, you get a pound allowance even for title fights but you only have one chance to make weight.
