Nick Diaz vs. Joe Riggs II set for “Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg”

Nick Diaz is expected to face off with an old rival in Joe Riggs on August 15 on the undercard of Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg.

The event is scheduled to take place at the HP Pavillion in San Jose, California.

Sources within Strikeforce recently confirmed the bout according to a recent report on Carson’s Corner.

This bout between the two will be the second professional mixed martial arts match-up but their third fight as the two traded blows in the hospital following their first encounter.

Riggs won the previous match-up between the two at UFC 57 as he edged out Diaz in a hard fought unanimous decision victory.

Diaz last saw action on May 6 where he submitted Scott Smith with a rear naked choke in the third round of “Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields”,the same card where Riggs bested Phil Baroni by unanimous decision in his last outing.

Riggs is fighting because he's still young and very relevant at 170....  Besides, this fight isn't happening.  Riggs is staying at 170 and Diaz is likely going to contend at 185.

"why is joe riggs still fighting? this is a slap in the face to diaz, he deserves a better opponent" Nick wants to return to, and stay at, 170. Riggs is the last guy to beat him at that weight. After losing to Riggs, Diaz beat a couple guys who have since moved to LW (Tibau and Neer). Riggs just had a nice performance against Baroni, who'd been looking good at welter. Why does Diaz deserve better? Anyway, who would even be better? Shields is the only welter Strikeforce has who is better than Riggs.

Bait..pay attention to the bolded words.  There are two of them in my other thread.. When I read undercard, I thought exactly the same thing that you did.  The writer was indeed being too vague.  I saw an opportunity with that, so I seized it.  My cup absolutely runneth over...with fools.
