Joe Lauzon promoted to purple belt

by Chris Palmquist | source: mixedmartialarts.com

UFC Fighter Joe Lauzon was recently promoted to purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by his jiu-jitsu instructor John Clark. John Clark is a jiu-jitsu black belt under Fabio Araujo, who himself is a Carlson Gracie Black Belt under Amaury Possidente.

Despite being a well-versed grappler and most well known for his grappling and submission skills, Lauzon is relatively new to gi jiu-jitsu.

Lauzon is next scheduled to fight January 2nd, against Sam Stout at UFC 108, having recently come off ACL replacement surgery.
