UFC/Spike TV to Counterprogram Strikeforce/CBS with 2-hour Special

Headlining bouts from UFC 101 through UFC 103 will air Nov. 7 on Spike TV at 9 p.m., the same time and date that Strikeforce will be making its debut on CBS.

Spike TV announced Wednesday that it will air the UFC 102 main event between Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, the UFC 103 main event between Vitor Belfort and Rich Franklin, and UFC 101’s featured bouts between Forrest Griffin and Anderson Silva and between B.J. Penn and Kenny Florian. The bouts, which have not appeared on cable, will be part of a two-hour telecast titled “UFC Main Events.”

Meanwhile, on CBS, No. 1-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko will meet an undefeated Brett Rogers. Also on the Strikeforce/M-1 Global co-promoted card is a middleweight title fight between Jake Shields and Jason "Mayhem" Miller.

Well I'll be at the Strikeforce event, so won't affect me! Though, I am surprised the UFC didn't come up with a live card...

Spike was number one with TUF for their key demo over every major network for 2 weeks.

Only a UFC nuthugger would watch those replays over a live event.

it's not competition thats hurting the fans it's Fedor not caring about his legacy and not testing himself against the elite. He wants to fight bums to end out his career, so be it, he eventually loses the greatest ever tag soon.

The only thing competition is good for is putting some more money in the pockets of the fighters...short term.Competition SUCKS BALLS for true fight fans because it means that a contract dispute can lead to us never seeing fights between two top fighters.Competition is what led to boxing sucking donkey balls now.Competition is why no one can name the undisputed heavy weight champion anymore.Competition is why we had to wait years too long to see Wand vs Chuck, Nog vs Randy and why we'll never see Fedor vs Brock.I'm happy the fighters have some options to make money, but it really sucks for the fans.

wtf what needs to happen is the ufc needs to get a damn network deal and have unleashed on espn and live fights on abc. theyd make a shit ton of money off sponsorships, no ultimate fight night, i mean a full blown ppv if dana white and the fertittas are really worried about whats good for the sport then they wouldve went with one of the offers they had, even if it wasnt the money they wanted
