UFC vet Clementi wins in Ireland

Former UFC fighter and popular veteran Rich Clementi picked up a much-needed win over the weekend.

At Sunday's Cage Wars event in Belfast, Northern Ireland, "The Ultimate Fighter 4" cast member stopped Chris Stringer (5-10-1) via second-round submission with a triangle choke.

Clementi (34-15-1) had suffered three losses in four bouts prior to the win, which came at the 3:11 mark of the round.

Clementi, who recently celebrated his 10-year anniversary in the fight game, reached the 50-fight mark with the bout, which headlined the 15-fight lineup at Kings Hall.

The Louisiana native, who also promotes show in the state, has had four different stints with the UFC, which included a spot on the special "comeback" fourth season of the organization's reality series.

I will start with the Stringer fight. Stringer was a last minute replacement due to the original opponent getting hurt. I am sure you are not trying to say that Rich will only fight guys who he can pad his record against... It sounds like you are doing good ole fashion MMA math. It never works that way. Rich fought in TUF weight class higher than he fights and also fought many of his fights at WW instead of his normal fighting weight. I think Rich beats many of the LW in the UFC.... Thats how I see it anyway..

LOL @ trying to criticize guys like Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz, while defending Rich Clementi ( a veteran of nearly 50 fights) who is fluffing his record against guys in Northern Ireland who are 5-10-1. Clementi's last fight against Chris Stringer would not have been allowed in the state of Nevada.Meanwhile, Diaz has accomplished more in jiu-jitsu, submission grappling, and MMA than Clementi and he's 9 years younger. Since Clementi is a grappler, this should tell you something. Diaz and Clementi were also both offered a spot on back-to-back seasons of TUF. -Diaz had 7 fights before TUF 5. -Clementi was a veteran of the UFC with 36 fights before TUF 4. -Diaz won the show and Clementi lost in the first round.Nate now has submission wins in the UFC over the likes of Kurt Pellegrino, Alvin Robinson, and Junior Assuncao, who are all black belts. Diaz also subbed Gray Maynard on TUF 5, the same guy who Clementi couldn't do anything with. After Clementi lost to Maynard, he then got choked out by Gleison Tibau in his last UFC fight. Tibau has only finished 2 of his 10 UFC opponents and lost nearly half of them.

Well if you want to quote his record lets see the whole picture..Rich is 7-3 in his last 10 fights with 4 wins being in the UFC and one of his loses being due to a fluke injury... He lost to the human blanket Gray Maynard who apologized for not fighting and just laying on him... I think he beats Nate and disserves back in the show..

yeah, we get the fact you love your Bayou boy Clementi and it's cool you're giving him congrats and all, but all of that went out the window when you tried to mention him in the same breath at Nate Diaz. Stylistically, that fight would be suicide for Clementi and Diaz would gain nothing from it. Clementi is 2-3 in his last 5 fives with both wins coming outside the UFC. He also just beat a guy from Northern Ireland that is 5-10-1.
