Amir Sadollah vs Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 114

by Damon Martin | source:

Welterweights are set to do battle on May 29 in Las Vegas at UFC 114 as "Ultimate Fighter" winner Amir Sadollah returns to action to face Korean Judoka Dong Hyun-Kim.

In his last two fights, Sadollah has shown his devastating striking diversity, putting on clinics against both Phil Baroni and Brad Blackburn. Now, Sadollah will face a much different style as he takes on an undefeated Judo expert.

Making his UFC debut in 2008, Dong Hyun-Kim (12-0-1) has now won three fights overall in the Octagon. He has one no contest for a fight against Karo Parisyan that Parisyan initially won, but had overturned for testing positive for illegal substances.

Obviously they are all top fighters, but i think right now, Dong Kim is good enough to beat any of the guys you mentioned. Now if you ask in a year or more, Hathaway and Story and Ellenberger will likely better. This is a very hard fight for Amir, and I am surprised at the opponent. Even though he is winning it seems to like too much. I hope he pulls through. Rally.

Yes, Hyun's grappling transition from judo to mma grappling esp to more wrestling oriented things is pretty good. the TJ Grant fight was a good example as Hyun sprawled and reversed on Grant all night. That isnt a type of sequence that is really practised in judo. But when Yoshida's fought guys on the same level like Jason Tan, he's tossed them picture perfectly as well like the gifs above (see the war machine fight) and submitted them. Though i dont think he's shown it in the UFC, he also has smashing GNP, see the Kikuchi fight for that. The only difference is Hyun's standup looks a bit better but he hasnt fought guys like AJ and Kos.
