Dan Hardy: Marcus Davis needs to chill out

source: fightersonlymagazine.co.uk

Despite having death wished upon him by a former adversary Marcus Davis earlier this week, Dan ‘The Outlaw’ Hardy was in good health when Fighters Only caught up with him today.  Davis had posted a Twitter message about Hardy saying he hopes “he dies of AIDS” but pulled it down after an outcry from some quarters.

Hardy had already seen it though, but was not in the least bit perturbed. “Yeah I saw that. I laughed. I think he needs to chill out a bit."

Even though Davis pulled the comment from his Twitter page, the fact he put it there suggests he has still not got over the ordeal Dan Hardy and his fans put him through prior to their UFC 99 clash. Among the jibes aimed at Davis - who takes fierce pride in his Irish heritage - were an observation that his website “looks like an explosion in a St. Patrick’s Day gift shop” and a number of photoshopped images showing Davis in compromising positions with other men. It seems Hardy is still very much getting at Davis.

“I think more than anything it is Davis getting to Davis now,” says Hardy after thinking for a moment. “I think he needs to see it for what it was and just chill out a bit. It was all meant in good humour, I didn’t say anything malicious or do anything malicious. It was all funny stuff, like the photoshops and the plastic paddy thing.

“It was just like a back and forward you’d get between mates in our gym any day of the week,” he adds. Indeed, Hardy’s humour - much like Michael Bisping’s - is very British and perhaps does not translate very well when taken across the pond to the US.

Somebody who gets bent out of shape over a romoshop probably has no sense of humor at all and probably is one of those people that overreact to evrything, a real drama queen.Probably wants to fight you over a Yo Momma joke.I dont get it.

I don't think its appopriate to repost them, they were disrespectful and hurtful to Marcus and his family, there no need to be reminded of the lies and trash that the supporters of Dan Hardy spread around the internet in a evil and malicious manner.

I think its more of a "familiarity" thing than just Americans can't take abuse.Me and my friends are downright vicious to each other. As are most groups of friends that I see. Even my old man and his buddies at the club greet each other like they are still in a fraternity, "Get a load of this fag-boy? Can I get you a drink with an umbrella in it you big queer?" And those are 60-80 year olds I hear saying this. When its coming from people you know, and get along with, its no harm done. When its coming from somebody you just met, and hasn't earned the right to joke around with you like that...well, I can see how guys who make their business fighting might get a bit put off by it.

yes..   americans have a more sophisticated sense of humour nowadays as illustrated in classic comedy movies like "big momma`s house" & the "beethoven" saga..        uneducated Brits dont understand the high-brow humour. & i agree with supercalo..      like slavery & apartheid..    piss-taking must be abolished!!!! how many Americans must have their feelings hurt before we realise that it is simply barbaric???

God forbid, manual labour, how horrid. But probably thats part of the difference the British are uneducated and work in manual labour (I mean no offense by this just pointing out the differences between the cultures) while Americans are more likely to have higher education, a higher standard of living and work in a more skilled enviroment. A American living in the 19th century could probably laugh at the English humour, but we have moved past that era now, as society changes the concept of what is acceptable changes. Once slavery was okay, now no longer for example

Thats where you need to be able to tell the difference between a piss take and an insult. You wouldnt last a week over here in a manual labour job ROFLMAO

I doubt even a Candandian would react well to someone stealing their piss with a cup or however it was done, Americans have a great sense of humour and are very relaxed but we do not react well to being deliberatly insulted.

Yeah, I can really imagine this being true in a lot of cases. I've lived with Americans and Canadians. The Americans were really uptight and very serious, surprisingly so. the Canadians were slightly more relaxed and you could actually have a laugh with them. I love Canadians.
