Toughill plans to stay with Strikeforce

Three weeks after stating intentions to leave Strikeforce and possibly retire, Erin Toughill has reconsidered and now plans to stay with the promotion. Citing “basic miscommunications” which have since been resolved, Toughill plans to remain on the Strikeforce roster and aims to return soon.

Strikeforce representative and fighter liaison Shannon Knapp was said to be instrumental in bringing the two sides together in correcting issues that resulted in a frustrated Toughill contemplating retirement in March. She will take time off and intends to fight for Strikeforce later in the year.

Toughill (10-2-1) posted a message on her Facebook page on March 18th that listed a series of grievances with Strikeforce. The outspoken veteran of both mixed martial arts and boxing stated that she could no longer work in the conditions around her and hinted that retirement could be a possibility. In a follow-up statement today, Toughill attributed the prior issues to miscommunications both on the part of Strikeforce and of Toughill’s own communications team.

I thought I read that cyborg was thinking of a family. can't blame her at all for that.

Don't worry Cyborg isn't starting a family anytime soon.

Cyborg would give her a lot worse beating than Ali did and I think Toughill knows that.

she's hot but Cyborg would own her...how about Toughill/Carano at 150 catchweight?

At this point, even trying to care about Toughill/Mendelson takes effort.

Absolutely. The situation is actually even more time-sensitive because Cyborg has spoken a few times about wanting to start a family at some point in the near future, so I actually expected that she would take time off if a fight with Erin wasn't going to happen. Either way, if Cyborg wins her next fight (which is likely) or doesn't get one scheduled for the next few months, it wouldn't surprise me at all if she took a year or more off.

It's april 25th and she is still "refocusing" so I don't see this happening in June. I agree about rushing the others in, but if they are willing to step up, then props to them. I hate to see Cyborg have to sit out and wait for the right people to step up. Let all those that want to fight her, fight her. There are not a lot of choices and "legit" contenders as on the male side of things, so I'm not sure waiting for those that are deserving is a viable option. I hope you can sort of understand what I'm saying. I'm just over the Erin drama. If cyborg wants to fight and someone is willing, have at it. Let Erin refocus all she wants.
