Kaufman KOs Modafferi with a slam

source: mmafighting.com

In one of the most stunning endings to a women's fight that mixed martial arts has ever seen, Sarah Kaufman knocked out Roxanne Modafferi by picking her up and slamming the back of her head against the canvas in the third round of their Strikeforce title fight.

Kaufman used it as an opportunity to tell her promoters that they need to do a better jof of promoting her.

"Get me on main cards on Showtime," Kaufman said afterward. "I think I deserve it. Put me on there."

Kaufman is right: The victory was the biggest of Kaufman's career, and it improved her record to 12-0, with nine victories by knockout or TKO. She's one of Strikeforce's best fighters, and she should be fighting on its biggest cards.

I thought it was a good fight up till then, I still had Sarah ahead on points though.  I wonder if Roxy should drop down a weight level though.  She looked so small compared to Sarah.  (no offense Sarah, please don't hurt me!)

I really enjoyed the fight, and would have loved to have thrown some more leather. Roxanne did a good job of keeping me occupied - but as a few of you mentioned, I thought trying to tire her out would start to work to my advantage. Roxanne is a very talented fighter, so I didn't want to get caught in some slick "super attack" as she put it. There are things that I would still like to improve on, but overall I was happy with my performance.

Sarah likes grinding opponents down, she has absolutely insane strength and cardio so in a 5 round fight it's not a bad tactic IMO. Most women (and many men for that matter) gas after 2 rounds, and only fairly recently was women's MMA even sanctioned for 5 rounds. Also if you watch the strikes, while roxy was throwing a similar amount (knees etc) as sarah it looked like sarah was landing the more telling blows. They were thrown more shaply and landing more solidly.

that second angle clearly shows that roxy had let go of the armbar and was trying to prevent the slam by grabbing sarah's leg. luckily sarah shaved her legs silky smooth and is strong as hell. she just ripped roxy's arm off her leg and rampaged her.and arona was not that close to locking the triangle when he got slammed. rampage just picked him up so fast that he didn't have time to let go.

what I don't understand why she was pushing roxi against the fence most of the fight when she was clearly the better striker it looked like tim sylvia against brandon vera like one of the commentators said it's like roxanne had a gravitational pull
