A light heavyweight showdown between former UFC champions Lyoto Machida and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been widely reported recently, although no official confirmation has come from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. sources recently confirmed the bout was in the works. Machida has since confirmed the bout via his Twitter account saying, “My next fight is confirmed and it's (going) to be against Rampage.”

He added that a date has yet to be solidified, but noted that the bout would likely “be in the end of the year.”

In follow-up to this story, sources confirmed that the bout will take place on Nov. 20, although the location doesn’t appear to be set. A November UFC event in Germany has been rumored for quite some time, but sources indicate the bout will take place in the U.S.

This is actually pickem fight, I am huge Machida fan, you guys are underating Rampage. Here is the thing, technically, Machida is a lot better, but even though Machida hits hard, he is not a 1 punch ko guy like Rampage or Fedor is, Machida's ko'ng Rashad was a big shot, but also it was the cumulation of an total assbeating, and Rampage, could be losing the fight, but catch Machida and lights out. So yeah, Machida I pick to win and root for, but you guys telling me that you cant see a scenario where Machida is up on the cards but Rampage late in the fight connects with something. Machida absolutey has to go back to his roots for this fight, you could tell in the Shogun fight he felt the pressure and he came at Shogun, something he never does, and it cost him the lhw title. Rampage is impossible to finish, you have to go all the way back to Rampage Wandy 1 and 2 to see Rampage ko'd and that was when Rampage was not as good as he is now, and Wandy was in his prime and on the sauce prolly. Forrest hit him with a lot, did not ko himJardine hit him with a lot, did not ko himDan Henderson landed a couple of his patented overhand rights on him and did not ko him, that says it all.By the way, to me this is badmatchmaking, the fight will be a good fight, but both guys are coming off losses, and this will guarantee 1 of them has 2 losses in a row, I would have rather seen something likeRampage Thiago SilvaMachida Cotoureor Rampage Rich FranklinMachida DiabateTo each dey own

If Rampage wants any chance of winning this fight he needs to get to a different camp. He needs to train with the best so they can push him. When you're the best fighter in a camp, how are you getting pushed to improve? Look at AKA, Greg Jackson's Camp, etc. The reason those guys are on the level they are is because they train with fighters/trainers who are just as good if not better on a daily basis.

Hmmm.. writing off Rampage seems like a silly thing to do.. considering we have seen Machida KO'd now..

Rampage may bounce back, he's had a bad fight with Forrest but redeemed himself, Rampage has the ability to do it again.Lyoto just came from a devastating loss, will he be in tip top shape or will he go the way of Vanderlei and Cro-cop?
