Neer defeats Finney at Fight Me MMA

source: mmaweekly.com

It definitely wasn't an easy crowd for Josh Neer to step in front of last night as he took on St. Louis native Jesse Finney in his hometown, but the former UFC fighter didn't flinch as he locked up a fight ending guillotine choke in the first round to pick up a win in the Fight Me main event Saturday night.

Neer controlled every aspect of the fight against the previously unbeaten Finney, who had no answers for the "Dentist" taking him down, taking the mount, and eventually ending the fight with a submission.

thanks to fight me for having me on the card. any of you fighters that want to fight for a good show ask anyone on the card these guys are first class. the show was awesome. it will air on mav tv (on dishnetwork) sept 15th. can't wait to see the production. all the fights were good. i think next time you guys can't get tickets just show up. part that sucks, when people get free tickets, it don't really matter if something comes up, bc they didn't pay for the tickets.

Odd matchup IMO. I hope Finney has a better showing than she did vs. Cyborg.

P.S. it was a great event and very well run. I can't wait to go back.

Cale took that fight on 4 days notice and was destroying Kiko in the second. Kiko was puking up in the dressing room after. I tried to get Cale to make distance and continue to beat on Kiko. Kiko was able to take him down and his Jits was too good. Congrats to him for weathering one hell of a storm. Cale will be back down to his usual 185# self and will be back to his winning ways in no time.

lance benoist won the head kick bonus.Don't get me wrong i thought Neer was a huge favorite but I never expected him to be so in control that he could play with finney like that.

For real, everyone around me was all for Finney and I think I was the only one that thought Neer was going to wreck Finney with his superior ground skills despite the size difference in the two. Neer literally looked like he was just playing around with Finney on the ground, controlling him with ease and choosing to strike rather than submit and finish him till he finally did go for the submission.I did like the 5k bonus for winning by head kick, lots of guys on the earlier fights were throwing head kicks left and right, made for some entertainment.

On the ground Kiko was just to much for him this time. You are operating on the assumption that Cale would be able to handle him with a full training camp. That is all just theory (I actually think you could be right). Either way my statement stands and Kiko was to much on the ground for Cale last night...maybe not tomorrow but yesterday he was.

Josh you scared the shit out of half of St. Louis with your skill level. People just don't understand how good elite fighters are.....definite shock and awe

Neer was too big of a step up for Finney.  It was like a cat vs. a mouse...
