Roop finishes 'Korean Zombie' with head kick KO

by Jeff Cain | source:

In featherweight action George Roop delivered a left high kick early in the second round of his bout with Chan Sung Jung, putting “The Korean Zombie” to sleep.

Roop utilized his reach and variety of leg kicks to keep Jung on the outside in the first round. Outside of flurry by Jung, Roop controlled the opening period.

Jung came out aggressive in the second round but Roop’s length presented him problems.
At 1:30 in round two, Roop caught Jung with his hands down and landed a left high kick to the jaw of the Korean rendering him unconscious before he hit the canvas.

And that's how he got the cut on his forehead. Roop's foot never got close to his forehead and he just CRACKED his head on his own knee. Pretty f'd....

It was actually that sharp jab of roop's that rocked him first, the kick just finished it off. I dont think that kick alone could've done the job considering it was more foot than shin.

Exactly. He was taking way too many hard shots early on. Eventually one of the strikes was gonna land flush....and it did.

First lesson on first day of any stand up fighting style ... keep your fucking hands up.  After I saw the first couple head kicks from Roop, I knew this is how it would end.

yeah it was a bit sloppy but he managed to get KO power when he appeared off balance. It was a good adjustment of his position in order to throw it but it wasn't prefect technique. His arms were all over the shop.If the KZ had his hands where they should be to block that kick that could have been a big opening for a counter right hand down the pipe.

Headkicks are McDojo TMA and don't work in NHB!
