Shamrock to White: 'You want to become a real man, you let me know'

by Mike Chiappetta | source:

In an e-mail sent to MMA Fighting, Shamrock rebutted White's criticisms and reaffirmed his belief that White is a bad frontman for the expanding MMA movement.

"Wow and false, is all that I can say about Dana's comments that I am a two-faced liar and further, what a bully and terrible example of combat sports meets corporate America," Shamrock wrote.

Shamrock explained that he visited White essentially to make peace.

"We parted with nothing more than a clear understanding of our different views and brands," said Shamrock, who recently retired and is in the process of moving to New York with plans to help lobby for MMA sanctioning.

"Dana's recent comments on AOL are ridiculous and insulting and I am sad to see them associated with our sport," he continued. "We will never be a true sport, or art for that matter, until we are free to speak our hearts and minds. I was being genuinely honest about my beliefs and dreams and did not attack, insult, curse or become angry with him in any way. And yet in return, I was attacked, ridiculed and bullied, and finally, my character questioned publically."

What? How is it a "known fact" that a "great deal of Franks wins were admittedly fake fights in Pancrase"? Source? Please name for us exactly which of Frank's wins in Pancrase were supposedly works - in order for there to have been a "great deal" of them - and especially how they were "admittedly" so, and a "known fact."Actually, there are only about a couple of Frank's wins that are even suspected (as possibly being thrown by Frank's opponent) - and certainly not "known" or as a "fact" - which I will specify for you AFTER I see the extensive list of works (to be the "great deal" that you specifically referred to) that you can come up with on your own, first. Go ahead. It is especially ironic that you started off your post with calling someone else "obviously a 'noob' too," and how they "don't know a great deal about Shamrock's history" - only to begin exposing yourself with your very next sentence as exactly what you described in your first. Why is it that people who rather clearly don't know WTF they're talking about (especially on this thread about Frank's history), still want to talk as if they do?First we had one guy claiming that Frank trained the Fertittas and Dana, and that Zuffa actually "courted Frank BIG TIME" and wanted to push Frank and make him their "poster boy" (and "the face of the new UFC") - now we have another guy claiming that a "great deal" of Frank's fights were "admittedly" works, and that this is even a known "fact." Again, I would like to see just how many wins of Frank's in Pancrase you can come up with as being works, or at least being even substantially suspected - and ESPECIALLY which were "admitted," and how exactly it is a "known fact."If you don't know WTF you're talking about - instead of exaggerating or outright fabricating - can you just not talk?

dana has done a lot but I would like to see the fuckinbg bullshit antics on TUF just stop cold. WFT Kos is going after someone....that is WWF bullshit and will keep the sport labeled as entertainment. Shit like that does not endear the sane population to the sport. Dana is about money, first and foremost. Frank is about the sport.

Good point. You got me on that one. But fixing fights is nothing new. If Frank really meant what is stated about the fix, then it is the influence of corporate America on the sport, and its new found popularity. With the UFC's exposure, every other person or organization is trying to find a way to cash in, even if it means fixing matches. For Frank's sake, I just hope the things he says is to save what is left of the sport "WE" call NHB and Vale Tudo. Good take again.

I question the suggestion that Frank is about the sport's purity.According to him, he kept the Le fight standing because it had to be exciting so CBS would sign a deal with SF. He said he could have taken Le down and beat him on the ground but that was not what was going to get the network deal.It is also worth noting that Frank was full of crap there since the CBS deal had been announced prior to the Shamrock/Le fight. But saying you were more concerned about making a fight exciting than with winning is not striving for purity.

Maxx; let me rephrase that for you. Frank is trying to preserve whatever "purity" this sport might have left. We know about match fixing. So what? I believe now that he is older and hopefully wiser he is willing to show what the sport really is. It is called redemption. Ever heard about it. NOOB!!!

So basically Frank is trying to spin it like he is the good guy who was attacked by Dana. That's complete bullshit and he knows it. I distinctly remember Frank re-igniting this war just a few weeks back.

ALSO... 1. Anybody who shits on Shamrock's contribution to the sports is a non-appreciative bastard who recently started watching the sport.and2. Don't let UFC revisionist history get a hold of you. Find out who invented the Octagon. Look at the timeline of UFC being sanctioned vs. when it was bought by Fertitas. When was the (PRIDE) ring outlawed in U.S. for MMA? It's impossible to say where the sport would have been without Team Dana, but to say that it would have been anywhere non-existant is ridiculous.WAR TRUTH.
