Fertitta wants GSP vs Anderson Silva next Summer

source: cagepotato.com

"I want to see that fight," UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta said during a Q&A session in London ahead of UFC 120. "That's probably the one fight I really want to see the most."

"'GSP has to get past Koscheck; Anderson Silva has to get past Vitor Belfort. If that happens, there's a really good likelihood that we could see that fight – probably some time next summer"

:If these guys keep winning their fights, I think it will definitely happen. One of the things we wanted to do was allow both of these guys to continue to get through their divisions – meaning there were a lot of contenders that deserved title shots. Because they're in different weightclasses, we wanted to let that all play out before we put those two guys together."

"But I mean we're getting to a point where they've pretty much cleaned out the division. Maybe it's time to watch them and see what happens."

The better each get 1 million dollars a piece, on the books.

Am I the only one who would rather see Jose Aldo vs Frankie Edgar?? Even though Aldo turned down a bout with Ken-Flo, Aldo has truly wiped out the 145 weight class. Hominick..yawn Josh Grispi...yawn

GSP puts him on his back more than Sonnen did,

Wouldn't mind GSP moving up, but I think Anderson's streak will be over soon. The Sonnen-fight broke the spell.

Rachelle Leah herself has said Anderson > GSP

There is something to be said for this. Anderson probably has a couple more years of elite fighting ability in him left, at most.

This is the reason I've come to believe that GSP actually has a chance. Anderson's power is at 205. For whatever reason, he's lost his punch when he fights at 185. If he cuts below 185, I don't know that he'll have anything to scare GSP.

Funny considering Dana White said he has absolutely no interest in this fight....

If they fight at 185 Anderson takes it fairly easily. If they fight at 170 GSP takes it fairly easily. So at what weight do they fight at?The fairest way would either to have a catch weight (177.5 I suppose), or to have them fight once at 170, once at 185. Which is the problem with these kinds of fights ... there's just no good way to do them as a title fight, so they have to be catch weight fights.
