Hardy: I was caught sleeping, but already back in the gym

by Ben Cartlidge | source: mmahq.com

Obviously last weekend was a bit of a dissapointing result. You’ve got to be looking to rebound from that one, have you got any plans drawn up?

Erm, just get back to it. That’s the nature of the sport, sometimes you get caught sleeping and it’s never happened to me before, it was my first one. It was a tough lesson, I didn’t enjoy it much but I’m already back in the gym ready for the next fight. 2011 is going to be a better year.

Carlos Condit flew under the radar a bit for me, a lot of people were overlooking his skills. It’s clear you had a lot of respect for him but when it came down to it, it was just two people throwing the same shot at the same time.

Yeah, I can’t take it away from him it was a great shot. My hand wasn’t up where it should have been and my punch didn’t land as clean as his did. It’s a lesson learned but I’ll catch him back no doubt. Every time I lose I always get it back one way or the other so he’s got it coming to him.

Have the UFC been in touch with details of an opponent or is there anyone that you’ve got your eye on?

To be honest I haven’t, I’ve not really got my eye on anyone. It’s just whoever the UFC see fit to put me up against. I’ve not heard anything from them yet but I’m expecting to in the next couple of weeks.

I'd like Hardy vs. Kampman.Although I'd have a real problem with who to root for, as I really like both guys.

Hardy would be a major step down for Sanchez. That fight makes no sense.

Hardy vs. Thiago could easily happen, it'd be interesting as well. Kampmann fought the perfect fight against Thiago, Hardy would just need to be super tight with his technique that night.

Already beat swick easily. I feel like he needs one last top 10 fight, hopefully Hathaway Sanchez or Thiago. If he loses he becomes a gatekeeper.

Ok.  I think I got it.   So Dan Hardy could beat Carlos Condit with his eyes closed but he cant beat him when he's asleep.  I understand,

I understand the haters who don't like Hardy, but he likes to hype fights, and its a hell of a lot better to hit someone you don't like(even if its just temporary dislike) I'm a huge Hardy fan but I don't think there'll be a british champion in any weight for at least another 2 years. Bisping, Hardy, Hathaway and Pearson have proven to be good, but not good enough.

And IMO Condit wins a rematch easy. i only see Hardy as a borderline top 10 at welterweight. How about Hardy-Hathaway or Pyle or even stun gun? What would be your predictions on them?
