Nate Quarry contemplating retirement

by Ariel Helwani | source: mmafighting.com

Nate Quarry is finally cleared to train again six months after undergoing major facial reconstruction surgery following his loss to Jorge Rivera in March. But when asked if he will ever fight again, Quarry replied "We'll see."

"It's kind of nice, actually, taking this time off, waking up in the morning knowing that I don't necessarily have to get punched today and I've got so many other incredible opportunities going on, so we'll see where my career takes me.

"I've been fighting for 12 years, training for 14. So 12 years, that's a lot. I started with absolutely nothing ... I saw the UFC on TV when I was 24, opened up the phone book, found a gym and started training. I didn't have any wrestling experience ... I was the guy sitting on the couch watching the fights, got up, went out, joined a gym.

"If I can do it, anybody can because I had no athletic ability from day one. Just willing to take my beating and move forward."

I interviewed Nate a few years ago and I'm lucky to call him a friend. He is a great guy!

He should have lost to Rivera, because Rivera had a better game plan.I like Nate. I've been entertained by him. But the Creduer fight wasn't one of the 'best' ever, it was just two guys wanging and banging.I hope he either fights on smartly, or retires and has great success.

TTT Great fighter who really leaves it all in the cage when he fights. Support him no matter what his choice is, I hope he has been taken care of financially so that he can have a relaxing retirement.

Backstreet - And of the best MMA fights ever against Credeur. He lost to Rivera who he shouldn't have lost to, but almost every fighter has lost to someone they shouldn't have. GSP-Matt Serra, Fedor-TK, Anderson-Takase, etc. I would like to see him in there at least one more time against perhaps Bisping.

lol, Rivera raped Nate and would beat Nate him 9 out of 10. Jorge is a f*cking beast. Go watch his fights, you will become a fan and realize how silly you statement is.

Probably a wise decision.A few more punches to the dome and he won't be able to spell "contemplate" anymore...
