Rivera and Sakara paid despite fight cancellation

Despite a last-minute cancellation of their UFC 122 co-main event, Jorge Rivera and Alessio Sakara both received pay for the fight.

"Do we not take care of guys?" White asked MMAjunkie.com when questioned about their pay. "Jorge actually got both (his show money and win bonus)." Sakara was paid his show money, which remains unknown.

Rivera vs. Sakara was expected to precede the Yushin Okami vs. Nate Marquardt headliner, but as MMAjunkie.com first reported, Sakara was forced off the card just hours before he was set to enter the cage because of the illness.

Rivera vs. Sakara originally was slated for UFC 118 until injuries eventually forced both middleweights off the August card.

im complaining about the fighter salamies not being high enough and dana covering his ass by offering the winning bonus to rivera. 1 good action is worth enough to cover your ass for a while

^^ why hate. Dana didn't have to do this. Everything is PR / marketing, you act like you just discovered fire. Fight fight game is tough, UFC mid tier fighters do better than mid tier boxers, but until there are reliable network deals in place fighter pay will continue to be mediocre compared to other professional athletes. Over all, the UFC does a good job of helping fights make a living off of MMA.
