UFC's Pierson barred from police force for nickname

A mixed martial artist who recently made his UFC debut has been barred from police training in Canada because officials believe his nickname is offensive and his fighting career would get in the way of his police work.

Sean Pierson was scheduled to begin training in Toronto on Tuesday, but his provisional job offer was withdrawn earlier this week, Toronto police spokesman Mark Pugash said.

Pugash said that Pierson's nickname -- Pimp Daddy -- and the time he spends training and competing would have caused a conflict with his police duties.

what a load of horseshit. Dude would have been interviewed and background checked a shit ton in order to even get to this point in the process.Somehow seeing him have some success and on national t.v. scared someone and they back pedalled. bunch of ass-wipes....certainly a nick name change could solve the problem.

This is exactly what it is. And in all fairness I kinda see where they are coming from. The Toronto Police is also still under scrutiny from teh G20 summit and they are facing NUMEROUS lawsuits from their hamdling of the situation. The last thing they need is a streetcop with the name Pimp Daddy!

So very true, especially with so many cops being horribly out of shape they should be happy they have a guy that can run a quarter mile without keeling over. It's a corny nickname but hardly offensive enough to take someone's job away. People need to quit being so fucking sensitive.

He hasnt gone by the nickname Pimp Daddy in quite some time, since his son was born i believe.Also, I dont think its his co-workers that have the issue... it's gotta come from higher up than that.

Toronto PD sounds like the queerest in all of North America.Also, couldn't he simply change his nickname? Its not like 'Pimp Daddy' is on his birth certificate.
