Ricco 'Suave' Rodriguez came on the show and shared almost an hour of his time answering anything and everything we asked.
Some highlights of the interview:
The Japanese treated him like shit. Tokada gym had him doing all of the dirty work around the gym and paying him horribly. Tokada gym would be paid by Pride around $100,000 for Ricco to fight and then Tokada gym would then only pay Ricco $20,000.
When Ricco fought Andrei Arlovski he didn't have a contract with the UFC. Ricco's future was basically in the hands of his fight with Arlovski. If Ricco were to have lost he wouldn't have been given a contract by the UFC and Pride FC would have cut him.
Although Ricco fought for Team Punishment, Ricco is in fact very good friends with Ken Shamrock, Guy Mezger and Pete Williams. All of the beef between Ken and Tito were strictly between them. Ricco even trained with the Lion's Den at one time and spent time with them in Japan.
Ricco is currently making a documentary and the main focus of it is going to be issues with weight and obesity.
Ricco called Joe Silva and requested to fight Tim Sylvia at the time because he knew he was the best they had to offer.
In his second fight with Travis Fulton, Fulton stated that he wasn't out and the ref was going to restart the fight. The commissioner had to get involved and the fight ended. A riot broke afterwards and the police had to escort Ricco out of the arena.
Ricco has awesome skills and had beat some great guys.I met him in Vegas years ago, and he seemed like a very nice guy. I dont know why so many people hate on him.
