Nick Diaz vs. 'Cyborg' Santos at Jan. 29 Strikeforce

by Ariel Helwani | source: mmafighting.com

Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz has agreed to defend his title against Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos on Jan. 29 in San Jose, Calif.

The proposed Diaz vs. Miller fight couldn't be agreed upon by both parties due to Diaz not willing to fight at 185 and Miller not willing to drop down to 170. Neither camp was able to agree on a suitable catchweight.

So, in comes the 33-year-old Santos has lost two of hios last three fights and four of his last six. He is 18-13 overall.

The title fight is expected to serve as the main event on the Showtime televised card.

Erm it was a total joke and mismatch since 1 guy didn't have a clue what to do at all.And a horseshit fight. And terrible to watch. And a co-main event. And LOL @ you attempt to pass it off as "2 Hall Of Famers".

Strikeforce shills, ufc shills, I know common thought is the ufc ranks are deeper, but are they really? Cause there are a LOT of strikeforce shills on this site.

exciting fight? probably. top competition for diaz? definetly not, but then again as someone already stated strikeforce doesn't have depth at WW. but then again you can make the point of their HW division where they have depth and still aren't making the most competitive fights, their HW champion is about to fight a can in japan, and has only defended his belt once in 3 years. and that was against a guy coming off a KO loss. with that said i will still be watching, as a person diaz is a big ol' d-bag but hes still one of the best WWs in the world he just needs to prove it by gettin top competition at 170 or (incoming diaz nuthuggers) take the fight with mayhem, hes too good to fight cans (not necessarily saying cyborgs a can)

Cyborg looked impressive recently and they don't really have a lot of other options. I would rather see the Mayhem fight but I'm sure this will have it's moments. It's a shame that they don't have better guys for Nick to fight but they have to make do with what they have I guess.
