Marquardt vs. Sexyama booked for UFC 128

A middleweight bout between former No. 1 contender Nate Marquardt and Yoshihiro Akiyama has been slated for UFC 128 in Newark, N.J., on March 19, according to multiple sources.

Contracts have been distributed and verbal agreements are in place from both fighters.

According to earlier reports, the UFC had wanted Akiyama to face Chael Sonnen at UFC 128. However, Sonnen was recently suspended by the organization after he pleaded guilty to money laundering in federal court earlier this week.

Great match up. I like both fighters but I'm a bigger fan of Sexyama. Think this will likely be his last fight if he loses, but perhaps this depends on the manner of his loss. Tough road for him. Won a great first fight...was winning and gassed in his second...didn't take Bisping down and lost it in the third round.

It seems like they are throwing all the biggest strongest MW's at him to show him he needs to drop to WW.

playing this match makes no sense for marquart, he is several levels above akiyama skillwise AND way bigger and stronger. what does winning this set him up for? a shot at belcher or stann? I do not get it.
