GSP manager: 'Essentially, he just fired her'

by Jonathan Snowden | source:

"They said it was amicable," a source close to the situation said. "Georges was just being nice. It was not. Essentially, he just fired her."

"St. Pierre is good looking, articulate, and easy to work with," one agent said under conditions of anonymity. "Almost anyone could have made these deals happen for him. He is the perfect spokesman for the sport. I give Shari credit for one thing: she knew she was overmatched and was brave enough to bring in outside help to do what she couldn't."

"It's about the fighter not the agent," one well known agent said. "Give me the right client and I will show you how easy it is to look great. Give me a client who is a loser and can't be controlled, one who complains like everything is someone else's fault, and I will show you how bad I can look. GSP is an agent's dream. Seems like many dreams in this case; when you wake up its not there any more."

Bloody Elbow has learned that money was at the heart of the dispute. St. Pierre was paying Spencer a rumored 20 percent of all the deals she brought to the table ... he didn't need an agent and a high profile manager. It was time for one to go.

Corporate America loves them a ripped up do gooder with a vanilla bland personality.  They thought Tiger Woods was that guy until it was determined he had the sexual habits of a rock star.  GSP will do well as long as they keep up the illusion that he likes women.

Funny how MMA is so mainstream , how many other fighters have these type of sponsors ?? None ! This duo broke into that game and opened doors for more fighters. I don't know the details , but this is how I would see it. 10% to a mgr that gets me MMA related sponsors for 100k or 20% to a mgr who gets me 800k sponsor from worldwide brands. It's all relative and a no brainer. She had the connects to deliver for him in that area so it seems.

Point was.. he was banging her... and the guys thought it was so he didn't have to pay her as much.. I'm not believing the numbers because GSP is known to be a penny pincher.

What makes you think tht GSP is so marketable? If he was a transcendent star, he'd do better than Gatorage Canada even if a retard was steering his ship.  The guy is an amazing athlete, but he talks like he has a mouth full of peanut butter and doesn't have a compelling media personality. Make no mistake: Kos sold those PPV's

Are you serious? I guess you don't know the difference between a manager and an agent.Any deals SHE negotiated, she is entitled to 20% Where does fight purse enter in the equation? And if you think a guy like GSP id "easy" because he is likable, then you are fucking crazy. This is a guy who has every minute scheduled during fight camp. Guess who plans his itenerary, books travel and hotel, insures GSP is happy and has everything he needs, schedules meetings, goes through legal processes to make sure his endorsement contracts do not conflict with UFC contracts. Makes sure his endorsement schedule does not conflict with UFC press schedule. Represent his interests in negotiating DVD workout video. Buys his house and makes sure his payments are all up to date.I am not a manager but I worked for a big one in the music industry for a few years, these are just off the top of my head. I could sit for hours and dream up scenarios where this woman could earn her money and she did.Once again, a MANAGER is there to represent the talent in ALL aspects of their life so all the talent has to do is focus on their craft. Since she came on board, he never lost and made millions. She did her job.

That was some sour grapes coming from the annoynomus manager. I'm willing to bet that whoever said that has never landed a major endorsment deal like Gatorade or UA in his career. I'll take it a step further and say he prob dosent have 1 top ten client either. Bringing GSP to CAA was a smart move for GSP because it allowed him access to companies no MMA manager has. I can think of maybe two people in the MMA game total right now who even have good access to the major power agencys Her wrong move... If this is all true... Was to bring in CAA and not rework her existing contract with GSP to account for that. Of course I have no idea how much of a role she was playing in setting up his subsidiary ventures that need to managed independantly of his MMA career. A lot of people talking shit about a person who's only clients have gold around thier waste and virtually zero negative press.

Who said she gets 20 percent of the fight purse?  She got 20 percent of the deals she landed him.

I learned from BLAF long ago that annonymous sources are pussies and faggots. This one seems no different.
