Lindland says marijuana suit seeks pot of gold, cites chronic issue

Matt "The Law" Lindland, Olympian, Team Quest founder, and 2008 GOP nominee for the Oregon House,  is being sued for allegedly stealing six mature marijuana plants. Plaintiff Gonzalo Aldana Gamboa claims Lindland offered last year to let Gamboa grow pot under the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program on Lindland's property in Eagle Creek.

According to the lawsuit, Gamboa registered the grow site with the state of Oregon and harvested six mature plants last October. Lindland helped load the plants into a U-Haul truck and told Gamboa he was moving them to his shed to dry, the lawsuit says. But when Gamboa returned a month later, Lindland would not allow him to collect his harvest, the lawsuit says.

The suit, filed by Portland lawyer William Macke, seeks $122,880 for the lost marijuana plants. However, under Oregon law, medical-marijuana growers can charge patients to cover the expense of growing. But growers are forbidden under the law from turning a profit.

Five Ounces of Pain was able to get in touch with Lindland who had the following to say via email, caps included:
“I have no idea what this about. There seems to be a trend these days with folks filing frivolous lawsuits without merit. I think this is a CHRONIC problem. Times are tough financially for a lot of people and everyone seems to think these is some kind of POT OF GOLD at the end of the lawsuit rainbow.”

I think his point is how could it be considered frivolous? It's not like he's suing for spilling hot coffee on himself. If his claims are true, Lindland ripped off 10's of thousands of dollars of the guy's product.

that sounds like double talk. either the guy grew weed on your property and you guys are disputing ownership of the plants, or he is a raving lunatic who is making up inflammatory accusations out of thin air. a guy suing another guy who stiffed him is not an indictment of society.
