Gegard: Fedor loyal to trainers so didn't evolve, is working on jiu-jitsu

source: mmamania.com

(5:30 mark)
Ariel Helwani: What is (Fedor) doing to evolve as a fighter?

Gegard Mousasi: He's training more on his standup ... and his jiu-jitsu. I think he's a loyal guy, a good heart, and hes always loyal to his trainers. And I think that kept him from developing to a better fighter. In his time he was the best, but now I think the fighters now have developed better. And now he's more open to training at other  places. I think that is going to do him well.

For all of the 15-25 seconds he was doing ok... I guess lol. And he got out boxed by Silva that whole first round. I think it's obvious that you are a Fedor fan and are biased, but be serious. Those two losses were blowouts. There was never a point in the fight where you said, Fedor is winning the round.

Sounded more to me like Gegard was saying Fedor is starting to branch out, and his loyally to his trainers stopped him from evolving, in the past tense. Cool that he was training his BJJ recently.

I'll admit that the Werdum fight was over quickly, but Fedor was doing quite well prior to the submission he just got a little over confident and got sloppy. His standup looked pretty good against Bigfoot until he was taken down and of course after that he was bludgeoned. I still feel like he could have won if he'd been allowed to continue, but I know that that's teterring on the lines of fanboydom.

What a strange dude Mousasi is. I don't mean it in a bad way. It seems he's almost humble to a fault. I mean King Mo's talk really got to him?

Going down to LHW is more important than changing trainers.

I love Mousasi interviews for some reason. Maybe it's the humbleness.
