Akiyama has had 3 brutal fights. The Leben fight was insane. Give the guy a tomato can, he's earned it. Someone like Sakara who he can bust up like Weidman did.

I love Akiyama and do not want him to fight Vitor for the simplest of reasons: it doesn't seem like a great match-up, maybe for either guy, and I'd rather not see Sexyama cut if he loses.

They are making him earn his money. I personally don't think this fight is that ridiculous, keep in mind that Vitor still does not have a win at MW in the UFC, the Anderson fight was a gift. It's a great style match up that is guaranteed to be entertaining. Also, some of you need to make up your mind on Bisping, either he's a top MW or he's not. Most of this board is constantly saying that he is not one of the best, and yet you use him as an example of Akiyama not getting easy fights. Alan Belcher was a great debut fight, Chris Leben had JUST fought and took the fight on 2 weeks notice, and then he fought a consensus (around here at least) non-top 10 Michael Bisping. We aren't exactly talking about a murderers row here.

Perhaps they are looking to hype up Vitor in the main event the month after the event in Rio? Andy et al anchor the show down there, while the publicity is rolled into the following month's show in Illadelph with Vitor headlining/co.
