Johnson: I'll kick Askren in his bushy-headed face

source: KNOXXlifestyle

Four time NCAA All-American, 2008 Olympian and current Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren recently had harsh words for fighters like Thiago Alves and Anthony Johnson who fail to make weight recently, saying they are  "just cowards. They should bump up a weight class. What are you scared of fighting guys bigger than you? If you really, truly can't make, say 170, you're gonna be fairly good sized for 185. I mean I walk around anywhere between 183 and 187. And 170, I can make it and it's not that difficult ... So yeah, those guys are idiots. I think it's immature and cowardly."

Anthony Johnson took pointed issue with the comments, via video.

"I'll kick Ben in his mouth quick before he ever try and say something like that in my face. I ain't got nothing against the dude. I don't even know him. I just know he's some bushy-headed kid. ... I got respect for the guy because we got that history with wrestling ... but as far as his MMA career, I don't know anything about it. I don't know who all he's fought. I think, will he be good? Yeah, I think he'll be good. Most wrestlers are successful at MMA. More power to him; if that's what he needs to say to get some attention then let him do it. I don't know, who he fight for? Bellator, you said? Okay. That's why."

Lima is going to beat Askren down in Bellator. Ben's rude awakening is coming very soon in this sport. Wouldn't be surprised if he tries to drop to 55 when he realizes he is never going to the top of 170. There is prospects out there at WW who are just as good if not plenty better. One who just happened to sign with Bellator. Another, Rory Macdonald who will rule UFC's 170 before Ben ever does. A shit talker much like Sonnen. Funny that a guy like Sonnen, well into his 30's, who has never been a champ of anything in mma, can talk about a guy who is just barely 30, first won a title over 5 years ago when he was 25, and has now gone on a run, defending the title for 3 years, breaking the record for title defenses in his division. Ben will never do this, and will probably be much like Sonnen into his late 30's. Anyways, when Ben tries to drop to 55, we will see what he says about weight cutting.

Askren wouldn't stand a chance against AJ - especially now that at AJ is at Imperial, training with Rashad. And instead of kvetchin' about AJ being "too big" for 170, Ben should move down to 155 (just like I think Rashad should drop to 185 instead of me kvetchin' about how Jon Jones is "too big" for 205). Hey, first John Howard, now Ben Askren: Line 'em up, and let Rumble mow 'em down.

I am with this guy, come on, does Anthony Johnson really strike as a guy who should be fighting at WW?Technically, he can make the cut, but does it really seem in the spirit of fair play, to have that dude fighting ww's. Forget about mw, you could totally put him at lhw, and he would in no way look small. People need to be frank, and tell it like it is. Catch my drift, thought so.
