Parisyan loses to third-round cut at MMA Live

Canadian welterweight Ryan Ford stopped UFC veteran Karo Parisyan on a third-round cut in the MMA Live 1 headliner on Thursday at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario, Canada. A knee strike resulted in the damage, which forced the doctor to intervene 1:26 into round three.

The bout appeared to be leaning towards Parisyan in rounds one and two, as he scored with takedowns and throws. A judo black belt, the 28-year-old Gokor Chivichyan protégé largely neutralized Ford’s strength and athleticism. The knee strike, however, turned the tide in the Canadian’s favor, as it split open Parisyan and forced the stoppage.

Karo was making a fool out of Ford before he got cut. He was running a judo clinic on him. Must have thrown and foot swept him like 12 times. Really sucks to see him lose like that. You can get to a video from mmalinker

Talked to him briefly this morning and he's in great spirits. Obviously disappointed with the loss, but proved to himself and everyone else that he turned a corner. He said coming into this thing that's all he wanted to do, win or lose. He's in the air now, but I should have an interview set up when he gets home.

hopefully he is not too discouraged. He needs to stay focused and clean.

Most of Ford's strikes didn't land in round1. Karo had 4 or 5 throws to Ford's 2 and worked from side control and had Ryan's back twice.
