Werdum is not a wrestler. He can't wrestle for shit. He doesn't have wrestling takedowns. How exactly is trying to pull guard and failing any worse than shooting a double or single and failing? He actually did pull Overeem down at times, he had ahold of him at other times. He just couldn't do anything with any of it or keep him there when Overeem wanted up. Which is the biggest difference and problem between a bjj guy who pulls his opponent down and wants to be on his back and a wrestler who takes down his opponent and wants to be on top. Who the fuck do you think is likely gonna have an easier time keeping his opponent on the ground? What made Werdum look pathetic was the buttscooting and the begging Overeem to jump down into his guard and give him a grappling match. Stick to fucking ADCC if you don't wanna fight. Meanwhile, Overeem looked pathetic becuase his entire awesome K-1 World GP champion level striking offense was entirely neutralized because of the scary threat of a takedown(mostly via slow telegraphed guard pulls) from a guy who can't even take him down in any other way and can't keep him there anyway from his back if he doesn't wanna be there.

The people trying to ride the "Werdum outstruck Overeem" short bus need to actually think about how fights are scored and what was really going on there.1. If your tactic is to trick your opponent into thinking you're hurt so he follows you to the ground don't be shocked if the judges think you were hurt.2. How the hell was Overeem supposed to outstrike someone that flopped onto his back everytime he threw a punch or knee?3. It's not like he was taking him down in order to lay on him, Werdum pulled guard. It looked more like Overeem was nullifying for a standup, not for points or he'd have gone for top position on all the trips he used.

This. So its ok if you're facing a K1 champ? Werdum flopped and prayed and then gets his wish in the 3rd and does nothing with a gassed Reem in his guard. Flopping is frowned upon in other sports but in the cage where its "as real as it gets" its cool? LOL
