Werdum blames Overeem, knee injury for Strikeforce farce

source: espn.co.uk

"If you look well, you'll see that my knee got out of place in the beginning of the second round," Werdum told R7.com. "It hurt so much, it was difficult to get up and it took a little of my focus. I will have an MRI scan and see whether it is serious and when I will be able to train.

"I should have had more faith in my stand-up, listened to [coach] Rafael Cordeiro. Strategically he (Overeem) was better. Perhaps, if I hadn't pulled the guard so many times, I would have won.

"He didn't want to go to the ground with me at all but it is an MMA fight, you have to do the ground game as well. I think it is funny that [opponents] call me to go at them and I do, but when I call them to the mat, nobody does."

If he wanted it on the mat he should have gotten him to the mat. Lame tactic and dissapointing fight.

No, HE DOES NOT have a point, and you sir, along with every other fucking idiot who shares this opinion need to find another sport to watch, IMMEDIATELY..Honestly, do you not have any fucking clue what a fight is all about?!?!?!?A fighters job is to IMPOSE HIS WILL AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE on the other fighter.. It is NOT a fucking give and take compromise where "oh, we did it your way for a while, now its my turn".What kind of stupid bullshit is that??!?Let me say it again...A fighters job is to IMPOSE HIS WILL AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE on the other fighter!!Got that junior???? This aint some playground shit where everyone gets a turn!! This is fighting, where a fighters job is to IMPOSE HIS WILL AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE on the other fighter!!! Keep repeating this over and over until you get a fucking clue and have it ingrained deep into that your mind..A fighters job is to IMPOSE HIS WILL AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE on the other fighter!!A fighters job is to IMPOSE HIS WILL AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE on the other fighter!!A fighters job is to IMPOSE HIS WILL AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE on the other fighter!!A fighters job is to IMPOSE HIS WILL AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE on the other fighter!!A fighters job is to IMPOSE HIS WILL AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE on the other fighter!!

why should overeem "fight in werdums world" when werdum did nothing to bring alistair there except falling to his back? he pulled guard succesfully maybe once or twice, then just fell to his ass the whole time begging alistair to come down there.if your base is grappling, you have to take the striker into your world. nobodys gunna give it to u. same with a striker, nobodys gunna stand infront of u for no reason if they have other options. you have to work towards your advantage, why in the fuck would alistair willingly dive into a guys guard who is clearly better than him on the ground? .and werdum did NOT fight in overeems world. he threw pitter pat combos and then flopped to his back. even when he landed that knee, his best strike of the match, he just fell right to his back. it was a pitiful performance by both men, but especially werdum. no takedowns, rushed striking, exaggeration of ground skills (hes awesome but hes no fuckin merlin like he seems to think now that he subbed fedor, cant just auto-sub anybody u want)etc.

because werdum used a closed guard to hold alistair down and not fight, as opposed to an open guard like he used a bit in round 1 where he was trying to set up a sub.

Why do most critics neglect the fact that like 40% of the fight was Overeem in Werdum's guard

If Werdum wants to start a fight on the ground, maybe he should get into wrestling. Oh wait, his BJJ would get wrestlef*cked. Hmm, maybe he should try ballet?

^^^ HAHAHA! but wish you'd have left overeem's name off. this is werdum's overall mentality, not just for this one fight.
