Jon Jones: Lots of things to exploit Rampage's game

by Steven Marrocco | source:

"It was so awkward because I couldn't afford to think of the people around me," Jones told ( on the set of KSwiss' new commercial campaign featuring fictional character Kenny Powers. "I was so in the zone; I was like, 'Wow, I'm looking like a total creep right now.'"

But before Jones snapped out of it and got back to the fans, he digested what Jackson was doing. Head movement, footwork, emotions, cardio – everything.

"I was really in the fight with watching head movement and footsteps and tendencies and emotions, cardio, how big his stomach was moving," Jones said. "I was pretty in touch with what was going on."

Now, the important question: Did he see anything he could use?

"Definitely; I liked what I saw," he said. "I saw a lot of things that I can exploit in Rampage's game. The obvious difference is in the way we fought Hamill. I fought Hamill and I was dominating the fight in the first minutes of the fight.

"'Rampage' had a very competitive fight match with Matt. So that was something I took into consideration right away."">read entire article...

I think that Jones is going to go "Forrest Griffen" on Rampage's ass with leg kicks...That's what will have him win...Rampage has a puncher's chance though.

Are you saying you don't understand what I was getting at with the "gets lucky?"

There's no such thing as luck...being there at the right place at the right time, or wrong place at the wrong time is what happens...Every KO Rampage has gotten (that I've seen) was from the opponent making a mistake. Prime example: My favorite fighter Chuck Liddell threw a body shot that was too wide, then exited out on Quinton's right side with his hands down not ready to defend, then Quinton capitalizes with a right hook on Chuck and took his belt...Ever since that KO no LHW has successfully defended the belt, Chuck has it on froze. :-D Can Jon Jones break the ice from around the LHW strap? :-P We'll have to see, and he's not defending against a push-over....Should be a good one

It's actually because of his upper body throws that it's conceivable he'll chuck rampage around. He has a deft touch style of wrestling and mixes his upper body attacks with lower body trips, picks and vice versa.Hey, I'd like to see Rampage win cause I think that guy has underachieved since his early successes in pride but unless he comes in with a more developed skill set + a disciplined game plan OR gets lucky, then JBJ is gonna do his thing.

NOT counting out Quinton BTW...just depends on how bad he wants it...but JBJ is just more talented by a great margin...that's very hard to overcome, but a left hook to the chin could do it...Wouldn't bet on it though.

Why all of a sudden does the majority of people in here think Rampage is gonna get tossed around?! Lol Rampage is a HUGE Light Heavyweight with one of THE strongest bases in MMA. Jon Jones isn't like Rashad Evans who's style is a low center of gravity, quick reflex double leg shooter. Jon's wrestling is more upperbody, and I don't think he'll be tossing around Quinton from the clinch...I see this fight as Jon feeling out for a while and Quinton also feeling out, you'll see Jon throw kicks, and Quinton head hunt, you'll see some clinches against the cage that I think Jackson will be doing about over half the controlling from the clinch. I think if tall ass Jones shoots in on Rampage, he will eat a uppercut and/or meet Jackson's brick wall takedown defense. I think Rampage is taking this fight THE MOST serious because he wants his belt back....I wouldn't count out Rampage as most of you are doing, and I GUARANTEE most of y'all riding for Jones, rode for Rampage during his short LHW title reign...y'all will be bandwagon jumping if Jon loses...

No one hates trash talk more then me and I don't think Jones is cocky at all. I don't even know why people think so. He studied Rampage's game and thinks there are holes he can exploit. That's a very impersonal analysis with no trash talk. What's the big deal? I also think that any fight will be an easy fight for Jones.
