yes he is an amazing prospect, and clearly very skilled, but why are they thowing Abedi into the deep end so fast? yea Alves has lost 3 of his last 4, but 2 of those losses were against the #1 and #2 welterweights, and the 3rd was the Story fight Bizarre match up, the same as Dunham/Bailey.. just looks like a way to get both guys a win to get back on track this one may backfire on them

Lets keep in mind two of Alves losses were to Fitch and GSP. He's a fighter everyone wants to see. He's not on the chopping block, thats dumb.

probably. he's gone from "top level fights" with GSP and fitch to fighting an up and comer like story, and now he's fighting a 33 year old new comer to the UFC. thats a bad career trajectory, alves has to come out with a win imo.

I agree with the exciting part but its clear that Dan Hardy gets extra chances to help grow the British market.

It is hard to say. I mean he lost to GSP and Fitch in 2 out of those 3 losses. Alves cost himself the Story fight by not coming out the gate stronger and taking forever to readjust. Alves will be a big step up in competition for Abedi so we shall see.

I think it depends on the fight? If it's exciting or if it blows. Personally win or lose I think they keep him for one more, look at Dan Hardy.
