Jeff Curran is returning to the UFC after seven years

More than seven years and exactly 26 fights since his lone trip to the octagon, 33-year-old bantamweight Jeff Curran has signed a multi-fight deal to return the UFC.

He's expected to fight at a fall UFC event.

Curran, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, hasn't fought in the UFC since a decision loss to Matt Serra way back at UFC 46 in early 2004. However, Curran won 15 of his next 16 fights from 2004 to 2007.

Following his latest WEC stint (which concluded with four consecutive losses from 2007-2009), Curran strung together four wins in five fights to get the UFC's attention.

The newly signed bantamweight will face former title contender Scott Jorgensen at UFC 137: St-Pierre vs. Diaz in October, according to sources.

Now that Curran’s back in the Octagon, he’s jumping right into the deep end of the division.

Former Boise State wrestler Scott Jorgensen returns at UFC 137 to face Curran after blasting Ken Stone in his last fight at “The Ultimate Fighter 13″ finale in June.

This is a great addition to the division. Curran is a tough gritty fighter who brings it. Great signing.

He's fighting Scott Jorgensen on the GSP/Diaz show. Very, very tough fight. Don't see him winning that fight.
