Alves: I'll never let it go to judges again

by Guilherme Cruz | source:

You had finished your sequence of defeats in UFC, but you loss again on your last fight, against Rick Story… How are you going for this fight?

I’ve learned a lot from my last fight, I’ll never let it go to the judges ever again. It took me a long time to start fighting, but I’ve learned what I had to learn, I’ve seen it all. Now I only have to trust my talent and on my team and go for it. I’ll try to knock him out or submit all opponents from now on. I’ll be aggressive again.

You don’t knockout since your bout against Matt Hughes. Why can’t you do it anymore?

I used to fight with nothing to lose. I had no worries whatsoever, I just fought to have fun, but when you reach a certain level you have to worry more, you start focusing on your future and forget about the present. But it’s all learning. I have really high expectations, I want to be one of the biggest champions and I have to go through all of this to learn and mature. I have no excuses, no I have to work hard and go for it.

I agree with this. He needs to be more aggressive but if you just come straight in on a wrestler youll be taken down easy. If he can improve his footwork and still pull the trigger he will be deadly.

Aggression is not an affective offense against wrestlers. Wrestlers counter aggression easily with constant takedown attempts.

So it's obviously an issue with training and so he either didn't train sufficiently for Story's wrestlefucking, or Story is a very proficient wrestlefucker (or wall 'n' staller)

^ you do realize that both things could of happened right? He could of still won the fight with just a little more aggression and still need to work on his offense.Btw you make no sense. I said he lost because he wasn't aggressive enough. You said that's not true if he would of countered the wrestling and went on the offensive he would of you're basically reinforcing my point that he just wasn't aggressive enough.

But he didn't story went in with a gameplan to wrestle and succeeded in doing so enough to win over thiago. What thiago didn't do is properly counter the wrestling with an offensive after the takedown defense what successful there for he was in defense mod the whole fight. We talked about it all the time trust me fan boy

He simply needs to use angles and cut off the ring more. Tht's all he's missing. It was diasappointing watchign him allow Story to walk him down in a straight line and him comply. If he did what GSP did to him in in the standup ...
