UFC hopes to have Aus vs UK TUF in pre production by Dec

AN AUSTRALIAN version of The Ultimate Fighter will be underway by Christmas if UFC boss Dana White has his way.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal White, whose fight company has already twice sold out Acer Arena in Sydney, wants to now pit Mixed Martial Artists from Australia and England in a special version of the reality TV series that has already become a global phenomenon.

Dubbed 'The Bashes', the local production would still be shot in Las Vegas and involve some dozen fighters living, training and battling in a knockout-style MMA competition. As always, the winner would be given a six-figure UFC contract.

"Right now we have three Australian broadcasters interested and a number of blue chips sponsors willing to write checks,'' says Marshall Zelaznik, UFC Managing Director of International Development. "That's what has us really excited, the fact we have serious backers for a concept that is obviously very expensive to produce.

"I'd like to think that before the end of the year we could be into pre-production. The pieces are certainly coming together."

Instead of UK and Aus coaches, get two quality training camps and just have the fighters on each side UK and Aus.

Hardy vs Ebersole seems the best option.I'd rather a charismatic American who lives in Australia with a group of Aussie trainers than Noke with a bunch of US trainers.

Brian Ebersole and Paul Daley if this would be the US show too. If it's just for UK and Oz then it doesn't affect me one way or the other. They could even go coachless.

I'm Aussie but I can admit that the level of talent here isn't going to make for the most competitive TUF...

If it's finalized I'll be trying out. I'm iffy about TUF but it would be a badass opportunity.

I like it. Great way to grow the sport down under. Not sure about coaches though. Im thinking they don't have UK/AUS coaches. UK/AUS teams but with experienced fighters as coaches who are no longer fighting or in their hey day. Not sure who though??? To be honest it would be cool to see actual coaches heading up the teams. Greg Jackson Vs Pat Miletich or something. Would never happen, but would be cool.

No need to do this yet imo. not enough Aussies and just watch it won't even get many viewers.

If it stays standing most of the Aussies would have the advantage.  In submission we are ok.  In wrastling we suck shit!
